Fall Fun & Family Survey

 

Dear Waggoner Families,

I hope your weekend has been wonderful! This weather is so beautiful. As I walk around my neighborhood, I see pumpkins, decorations, and the leaves are starting to change to signal that fall is here. This time of year is filled with traditions- Bear Week in Kindergarten and TK, and October means it's time for the Halloween Parade! Although we won't be having our usual parade around town this year, we would like to invite you to the Waggoner Drive By Parade on the morning of the 30th! Students and families are invited to dress up in costume and drive by Waggoner and wave! We will be dressed up in our spooky best! We'll be outside between 8:30 and 9:30, and again from 9:45-10:45. If you can't make the drive by parade, we will have a Padlet where you can post a video or picture of your Dolphin in costume! We can't wait to see you!

¡Espero que tu fin de semana haya sido maravilloso! Este clima es tan hermoso. Mientras camino por mi vecindario, veo calabazas, decoraciones y las hojas comienzan a cambiar para indicar que el otoño está aquí. Esta época del año está llena de tradiciones: la Semana del Oso en Kindergarten y TK, ¡y octubre significa que es hora del Desfile de Halloween! Aunque no tendremos nuestro desfile habitual por la ciudad este año, ¡nos gustaría invitarlo al desfile Waggoner Drive By Parade en la mañana del día 30! ¡Los estudiantes y las familias están invitados a disfrazarse y pasar por Wagoner y saludar! ¡Estaremos vestidos con nuestras espeluznantes mejores galas! Estaremos afuera entre las 8:30 y las 9:30, y nuevamente de las 9: 45-10: 45. Si no puede hacer el recorrido en desfile, tendremos un Padlet donde puede publicar un video o una foto de su delfín disfrazado. ¡No podemos esperar a verte!

WJUSD Return to School Survey

Thank you to all families who have already completed the WJUSD Return to school survey. We have 233 responses so far - 65% of Waggoner families! If you haven't had a chance to complete the survey, the link can be found here: https://bit.ly/returnWJUSD . Your responses will help us continue to plan for safety, instruction, food services, and staffing when we reopen. At this time, the date for return has not been determined, and our plan to do Distance Learning through Thanksgiving has not been changed. Before reopening, we will be sure it is safe to do so and will also give families plenty of time to prepare in advance. Thank you for completing te survey for each student in your family preschool through 12th grade.

As surveys have been returned, there have been some common questions that I can share some information about:

1. Will families be placed on the same A or B cohort? Yes, we plan to place families on the same cohort unless there is a request not to. This means that every child in your family would attend on the same two days and be off on the others. We hope this is helpful for both transportation and planning.
2. Will there be PPE and safety procedures in place for students? Yes, we have plexiglass dividers for every classroom, hand sanitizer, increased cleaning procedures, regular handwashing, and active temperature scanning for all as just some of the protocolos in place. Play structures will be sanitized outside, and we have designated seating to provide social distancing in classrooms and in the lunch area. 
3. Will my child still be able to play with friends? Yes, we will have specific zones on the playground with different activities to rotate through each day that will allow kids a variety of fun things to do with friends. It will be different, but we know we will still have a ton of fun. 
4. Can my child continue Distance Learning all year or until we can reopen fully? Yes, we will be offering Distance Learning through the end of the year. We know some families will not feel safe returning yet, and we also know that Distance Working is working well for many families. This survey will let us know how many students will need long term distance learning and how many plan to return. Please select what works best for your family. Distance Learning may look a little different when hybrid begins, but it will still be engaging and fun!

Encuesta de regreso a la escuela de WJUSD

Gracias a todas las familias que completaron la encuesta de regreso a la escuela de WJUSD. Ya tenemos 233 respuestas: ¡el 65% de las familias de Waggoner! Si no ha tenido la oportunidad de completar la encuesta, el enlace se puede encontrar aquí: https://bit.ly/returnWJUSD. Sus respuestas nos ayudarán a seguir planificando la seguridad, la instrucción, los servicios alimentarios y la dotación de personal cuando reabramos. Las estructuras de juego se desinfectarán en el exterior y hemos designado asientos para proporcionar distanciamiento social en los salones de clases y en el área del almuerzo.
3. ¿Mi hijo aún podrá jugar con amigos? Sí, tendremos zonas específicas en el patio de recreo con diferentes actividades para alternar cada día que permitirán a los niños una variedad de cosas divertidas para hacer con amigos. Será diferente, pero sabemos que todavía nos divertiremos mucho.
4. ¿Puede mi hijo continuar con el aprendizaje a distancia todo el año o hasta que podamos reabrir por completo? Sí, ofreceremos aprendizaje a distancia hasta fin de año. Sabemos que algunas familias no se sentirán seguras al regresar todavía, y también sabemos que el Trabajo a Distancia está funcionando bien para muchas familias. Esta encuesta nos permitirá saber cuántos estudiantes necesitarán aprendizaje a distancia a largo plazo y cuántos planean regresar. Seleccione lo que funcione mejor para su familia. El aprendizaje a distancia puede verse un poco diferente cuando comience el híbrido, ¡pero seguirá siendo atractivo y divertido!
