A Letter from Mrs. Kloczko

Dear Waggoner Families,

By now you have likely read the communication from Superintendent Jiménez that I will be leaving Waggoner at the end of this school year. There are not enough words to share how much I love our school! It has been my absolute honor to serve as the principal at Waggoner over the past two years and to be a part of this incredible Winters community. I love our students, staff, and families, and there is truly no place like Waggoner! I have treasured my time here as part of the WJUSD team and have learned so much. And no matter where I am I will never forget you, our amazing kids, and our staff. I hope that we can stay connected. I look forward to finishing out the rest of the year together and supporting Waggoner and the district as needed with the transition and finding the lucky person who will serve as leader of this magical place. You will always hold a special place in my heart. Let's make the rest of this year the best it can be!

My life is more beautiful because I met you.

With much love,
Jennifer

Jennifer

Lucky Us!

We are feeling extra lucky at Waggoner! What a great week we had! We loved having kids on campus and seeing our families! We are also happy to have our long term distance learners continuing along from home. Thank you to our all of amazing teachers and staff for the hard work and organization in getting all the pieces of the puzzle to work. As you can imagine, it is not easy. We appreciate your smiles and support. This week was a success! If you had trouble with anything, please reach out to the teacher  first with any questions. And we are also available in the office as well to help out.

Spirit Days
Dig out those blue Winters PTA shirts! Cohort A wears them on Mondays, and Cohort B and Distance Learners on Fridays! And since it's St. Patrick's Day this week, I invite you to join us in feeling lucky and wear green on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday!

Events
This week's blog has some info about upcoming events including POETRY JAM - awesome, and also PICTURE DAY! We can't even believe it. The information about Poetry Jam is below - save April 22nd for our first ever virtual Poetry Jam N Slam!
We will also be doing in person picture day! Cohort A will be April 6, and Cohort B will be April 8th. Both days will have drive up photos available for our distance learners!

Also, Spring Break is next week! We look forward to welcoming everyone back on March 29th.

Please welcome Hudson Nunes to Waggoner!
We are happy to share that beginning March 29th we have Husdon Nunes,  our very own resident substitute who will be on campus every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday the remainder of the year. Mr. Nunes is currently teaching PE at Winters Middle School, and he will join the Waggoner team after Spring Break.

Meet our new Resident Substitute at Waggoner, Hudson Nunes!

As a resident substitute, Mr. Nunes will be responsible for ensuring instruction continues should a teacher be unable to hold a class that day. On top of that, Hudson will be on campus providing student supervision and helping facilitate student activities with regard to safe on-campus hybrid learning protocols.

When asked about the resident substitute position at Waggoner he said, “I am so excited to be here. I just can’t wait to help keep kids learning, while also doing my part to safely transition students back into the classroom."

Hudson was raised in Davis and attended Sonoma State University’s School of Business and Economics completing a degree in Business Marketing while also obtaining minors in both Applied Statistics and Biology. After working in the Sacramento area as a marketing manager, he returned to school in order to pursue his dream of becoming a teacher. Upon finishing his student teaching he hopes to teach middle or high school level Science.

Outside of work Hudson can be found playing hockey, tennis, and golf, or out hiking and fishing. If you see him on campus give him a socially distanced wave!

Ready, Set, Go!

Ready! Set! Go!
We are ready to welcome back our cohort B students tomorrow! Final preparations have been completed all around campus. Take a look below at some of the sights from around Waggoner!

This past week several posts with lots of information were sent to all families. This post is your TOP TEN list of things to remember for the very best first day of school!

  1. This is the our second first day of school! It may not be August, but it's a very special week for everyone! The first day in person for A Cohort is March 8th. The first day in person for B cohort is March 11th. We cannot wait to see our students! You may arrive anytime between 7:45 and 8:15.
  2. It looks like it may rain next week, although Monday looks clear! Rain or shine, we will have a great week! Please be sure your child has a jacket and hood -- if the rain is light we will still try to get out for some fresh air! You'll also want to send a bag of toys/playing cards/lego items for playing at recess if kids need to stay indoors. Please send a gallon size ziploc with some small toys or items. One of the outdoor stations will be a Bring Your Own Fun station! (Legos, little doll/animals, cards, etc-- since kids cannot share toys. Please clearly label with your child’s name. Please do not send anything valuable or breakable.)
  3. Let's roll with it! Flexibility is important for all of us. We have planned for everything and we anticipate we will learn a lot and adjust! Thanks for your support!
  4. Lunch is not served at school. All hybrid students will receive a grab and go lunch to take home on the in-person days. Students will also receive a snack, or you may send a snack with your child. If your child is a long term distance learner, please reach out to Cathy Olsen, our Director of Food Services at colsen@wintersjusd.org. Breakfast is not served at school at this time.
  5. Please send a water bottle with your child with his/her name on it. We are not able to use drinking fountains at this time.
  6. Be sure to review the health checklist each day before coming to school. If your child is sick please do not send him/her to school.
  7. Drop off options: You may walk your child to the gates which will be clearly marked-- please wait on the social distancing dots. Or, you may use the drive up lane and we will open the door and direct your child to the right gate. We will have staff to escort kids to their classroom lines once they have their temperature taken.
  8. Pick up times are staggered. TK/K parents may arrive as early as 12 to pick up. First grade will walk out at 12:10, and Second grade will walk out at 12:15. Please arrive at the time of your oldest child if you have more than one student at Waggoner.
  9. If your child is riding the bus, here is the Waggoner schedule. Waggoner Bus Schedule ---Rominger students will no longer be picked up at Waggoner to ride over. Please contact Rominger or District Transportation at smckinney@wintersjusd.org for their bus stop information.
  10. Masks are required for everyone over the age of two while on campus and on buses. If your child hasn't been regularly wearing a mask, it's a good time to practice. The kids are going to do GREAT! We have been so impressed by our kids in the after school program who are rocking their masks! We have lots of extra masks at school and will be providing each child with reusable masks to take home also. Here are our mask guidelines:

¡Listo! ¡Colocar! ¡Vamos!

¡No podemos esperar a ver a nuestros estudiantes!
3. ¡Vamos a seguir adelante!
