Hello Waggoner Families!

We hope you have had a great first three days of Distance Learning! We are learning a lot and teachers have loved getting to know students and families this week! Our virtual Back To School Night is Monday August 31st on Zoom! Teachers will be sending home their slides/information by Monday morning for you to review prior to that night. Then, each grade level has a block of time to Zoom with families, share information, and answer questions. 

Also, Mrs. Kloczko will have two sessions to choose where you can also learn general information, and also about Special Education, Intervention, Music, Counseling, and STEAM. There is a form to submit questions below. We look forward to seeing you all on Zoom! Links for the Zoom sessions with teachers will be shared by teachers and Mrs. Kloczko by Monday also. The schedules are listed below!

¡Esperamos que haya tenido unos excelentes primeros tres días de aprendizaje a distancia! ¡Estamos aprendiendo mucho y a los maestros les ha encantado conocer a los estudiantes y sus familias esta semana! ¡Nuestra noche virtual de regreso a clases es el lunes 31 de agosto en Zoom! Los maestros enviarán a casa sus diapositivas / información el lunes por la mañana para que las revise antes de esa noche. Luego, cada nivel de grado tiene un bloque de tiempo para Zoom con las familias, compartir información y responder preguntas.

First Day Jitters!

The first day of school is tomorrow! We can't wait!  We know it might seem scary. We hope everything goes smoothly, but also know that the tech might be challenging and that this is a whole new adventure for all of us! We have planned these first eight days to get everyone connected and supported. It will be okay! We are here to help.

As we have shared previously, the schedule for tomorrow will be a little different as we have planned a drive up supply pickup and welcome with staff in the morning. Here is what you need to know: 

• Kindergarten and TK families pickup in the drive up in front of kindergarten from 8:30-9:30, and 1st and 2nd grade will be welcoming you from 9:00-10:00 in the staff parking lot. There is an overlap for those with students in both age groups. Please stay in your cars as you pick up supplies. You can make a sign with your child's name and teacher to wave as you go by! 
• There will be a little photo booth on the fence of the staff lot for first day pics! It will be out there all day so come by when you have time and snap a photo. Be sure to social distance. 
• In the afternoon we have planned Zoom class parties at 12:30 for every class in our school! We can’t wait to see you! You should have received a welcome email from your child's teacher with information about the first day. If you did not, please contact the office by email or phone so we can update your contact information. Your child's teacher can also reach out by phone to help you get connected if you are having trouble. We will get you connected!
• Accessing Zoom- Your child's teacher has shared information with the Zoom link in an email to you, or in Google Classroom. To access Google Classroom you should visit classroom.google.com and you will see a button that says JOIN on the button for your child's class. No code needed! ¡El primer día de clases es mañana! ¡No podemos esperar! Sabemos que puede parecer aterrador. Esperamos que todo salga bien, pero también sabemos que la tecnología puede ser un desafío y que esta es una aventura completamente nueva para todos nosotros. Hemos planeado estos primeros ocho días para que todos estén conectados y apoyados. ¡Estara bien! Estamos aquí para ayudar.

8/24 Chromebook Pickup Info

Hello Waggoner Families ! 

I hope you are well this weekend. Just a reminder that we are having drive-up chromebook pickup tomorrow 8/24 from 8:00-10:30 in the staff lot. Lunch service starts at 10:45, so we will stop at 10:30. If you can't make it, we can make arrangements later. If air quality is still bad, we will have you wait in line in your cars, and keep pulling forward. When you get to the front by the cafeteria you can exit your car. (This way any kids can stay in and out of the bad air, and you don't have to stand in line in the smoke) Please wear a mask. We will adjust with air quality. Thanks for your patience!

Espero que estés bien este fin de semana. Solo un recordatorio de que vamos a recoger Chromebook en el auto mañana 24/8 de 8: 00-10: 30 en el estacionamiento del personal. Hello Waggoner!

Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year and welcome to Waggoner! This year isn’t starting the way we imagined, but we are still as excited as ever. Although we may not be together at school, we are together in our hearts as the Waggoner community! This is not an easy time and we understand that you may need to prioritize family right now. We are here for you, offering grace, patience, and support.

Here is some information you need as we begin the year. Please keep in mind that these may change depending on fire conditions and air quality. You can expect communication often from me, and please reach out if you have questions or if there is anything you need.

Chromebook Pickup is scheduled for 8:00-10:30 Monday August 24th. If you can’t come that day, we can arrange another time. 

The first day of school is August 26th. The schedule that day will be a little different as we have planned a drive up supply pickup and welcome with staff in the morning.

Waggoner Wave

 It's another summer edition of the Waggoner Wave! I am hoping to answer some of your your back to school questions and share some important information. 

Waggoner Chromebooks

• Due to the extreme heat we have shortened the pickup time for August 17th to 9-12. Pickups will be drive up only and will be in the staff lot by the cafeteria. Please enter through the large gate. It will take 5-10 minutes to get your chromebook.  We will be adding another pickup time on the 24th or 25th in case you can't make it tomorrow. 
• Do I have to get a school chromebook if I already have a device? No, you may use your own device. 
• Chromebook insurance is available and forms came home in the summer mailer. It is $26. Please have exact cash or check payable to Waggoner Elementary.

First Day of School & Dolphin Distance Learning Boot Camp

• We will have a special drive up supply pickup on the first day of school. Pickup times will be announced later this week. If you can't come at that time, the supplies will be available all day- teachers will be out at the morning to say hi! 
• During Boot Camp we will still have the same hours, but not all of the LIVE times so we can meet with each family during the first 8 days. We will send out the information before school starts. We are having this soft start to the year to get everyone time to settle in with support. 

Teacher Notification

• Summer mailers went out with emergency forms and other papers last week. Please drop off anytime this week at Waggoner (boxes will be available out front). Every family who turns in their emergency cards August 17-20 will receive an email Friday August 21st with the teacher name. The teacher will send a special welcome email on the 24th.

Enviaremos la información antes de que comience la escuela. Estamos teniendo este comienzo de año suave para que todos tengan tiempo de adaptarse con apoyo.

It is an honor to reach out to officially welcome you to the new school year! If you are new to Waggoner, welcome! The Waggoner community is incredible, with the most caring and supportive families around! Of course, we LOVE our students and our TK through Second Grade school is home to some amazing young learners! We hope you are enjoying the last of summer and we are looking forward to the new school year!

As we begin the year, I know this time in our lives brings uncertainty and anxiousness about what lies ahead. I do not know what the future will bring, but I can assure you that our district staff has been hard at work all summer to craft the best plans possible for both safety and instruction. This year will be unlike any we have ever seen, and yet I am confident that we can still have a fantastic year. We are in this together, and we are here to support you!

This time of year traditionally is filled with dates and details about summer mailers, Meet the Teacher, the Paper Parade and more! We have reimagined all these things and I am excited to share lots of information with you!

For Distance Learning, we have created an all new schedule that provides a little shorter day and mostly common times for online and offline work for all grade levels - even though the kids might be doing different things! The schedule can be found here: https://bit.ly/wagschedule . The daily schedule is TK & K 8:15-12:15 and 1st & 2nd 8:15-1:05. We also have office hours at the end of each day for family and student support. I will be hosting Virtual Chats with the Principal for families to answer questions before school starts!

Also, for the first eight days of school, Waggoner students and families will be set up for success with the Distance Learning Dolphin Boot Camp! During these first eight school days, students will get to know their teacher and each other, learn routines and procedures, explore materials, and learn the technology skills needed to be successful for online learning. We know this is all new! Those days will also have more paper/art/offline work- the kinds of things we would traditionally do the first week of school! This modified schedule will also allow time for teachers to meet with each family individually in a virtual conference. Distance Learning is all new to us, but school as a thing is new when you are little! This specific schedule will be shared soon!

¡Es un honor extender la mano para darle la bienvenida oficial al nuevo año escolar! Si eres nuevo en Waggoner, ¡bienvenido! La comunidad de Waggoner es increíble, ¡con las familias más cariñosas y solidarias! ¡Por supuesto, AMAMOS a nuestros estudiantes y nuestra escuela TK hasta el segundo grado es el hogar de algunos estudiantes jóvenes increíbles! ¡Esperamos que esté disfrutando el último verano y estamos ansiosos por el nuevo año escolar!

Al comenzar el año, sé que este momento en nuestras vidas trae incertidumbre y ansiedad sobre lo que nos espera. No sé lo que traerá el futuro, pero puedo asegurarles que el personal de nuestro distrito ha estado trabajando duro todo el verano para elaborar los mejores planes posibles tanto para la seguridad como para la instrucción. Este año será diferente a cualquier otro que hayamos visto y, sin embargo, estoy seguro de que todavía podemos tener un año fantástico. ¡Estamos juntos en esto y estamos aquí para apoyarlo!
